For Immediate Release Media Contact: Jack Wilkie 515-457-6306 Amy Levin 847-971-8621 Kum & Go Focusing on Larger Store Format Auctions Non-Strategic Locations and Closed Units West Des Moines, IA, August 3, 2007—Kum & Go, one of the nation’s leading convenience store chains, announced today that it has retained The Energy Exchange of Chicago to coordinate a sealed bid auction of twenty-one Kum & Go stores and twelve surplus sites. Seven of the twenty-one operating locations are in Des Moines; three are in Wichita and eleven in Omaha. Eleven of the surplus sites are in Iowa, including Waterloo and Cedar Rapids, and one is in Omaha. The twenty-one operating locations that will be divested are either outside of Kum & Go’s core markets, or are not large enough to consistently deliver the products that Kum & Go’s newer locations offer. Kum & Go’s business plan calls for an increase in the number of convenience stores in its core markets, while developing more and better efficiencies in its infrastructure as well as creating a stronger asset base. “Our company is committed to carefully-planned, strategic growth,” said Kum & Go, L.C. The West Des Moines, Iowa based company is the seventh largest privately held convenience store chain in the United States.
