(West Des Moines, Iowa — December 23, 2008) Kum & Go, L.C., one of the nation’s leading convenience store chains, is proud to announce that its store in Clear Lake, IA, is again open for business as of Friday, December 19. The original 1,200 square foot Kum & Go store in this location was demolished and a new 3,400-square-foot store was built in its place. The store took 81 days to construct and is located at I35 and Highway 18.
“We are thrilled to offer the residents of Clear Lake a brand-new Kum & Go store with easier access and a broader offering of products,” said Kyle Krause, Kum & Go president and CEO. “We appreciate our customers’ patience and loyalty during construction. Kum & Go has enjoyed doing business in Clear Lake for many years and we’re excited to introduce our new store to the community.”
The new store features 16 fueling stations, offering unleaded, super unleaded, premium, diesel and E85 fuels. E85 is an alternative motor fuel mixture of about 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. It is an environmentally friendly fuel that can only be used in flex-fuel vehicles with engines modified to accept higher concentrations of ethanol. Kum & Go has offered E85 since 1997 and currently offers E85 at 39 of its stores located across nine states.
In addition to offering quality gasoline, Kum & Go stores feature a wide selection of food and beverage products, including Java Ridge Premium Coffee, Go Fresh Market Sandwiches, Nuclear energy drinks and Nutri2o nutraceutical waters. The Iowa-based company also offers potato chips, bottled water, cookies and candy under the well-known Hiland brand name in its stores.
As part of Kum & Go’s commitment to developing environmentally friendly building and operating practices, the new Clear Lake store integrates heavily insulated glass, LED cooler door lights and energy-efficient coolers into its “green” design.
Kum & Go prides itself on providing patrons with the ideal customer experience. Last year, the company was voted No. 1 in customer service out of seven major convenience store chains and earned the national Excellence in Customer Service Outlook Award from Convenience Store/Petroleum (CSP) magazine. Customers can expect friendly and helpful associates, a well-kept store and reasonable prices. “We want Kum & Go to continue to be Clear Lake’s store of choice for coffee, pop or soda in the morning, gas after work and all the stops in between,” Krause said.
