Biographies
W.A. Krause
W.A. Krause’s roots are in Iowa. Originally from Eldora, Iowa, he attended the University of Iowa and majored in journalism. In the late 1950s, Mr. Krause entered into a small business partnership with his father-in-law, Tony Gentle. The two entrepreneurs were pioneers in the convenience store concept. Today, Krause owns more than 400 Kum & Go convenience stores in 11 states (Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Colorado, Arkansas and Wyoming). Kum & Go’s 4,000 associates serve more than 400,000 customers every day. Kum & Go is the fifth largest privately-held, company-operated convenience store chain in the United States.
Mr. Krause’s professional career is dynamic with the core business of convenience stores. In 2005, the industry’s leading publication, Convenience Store People, named Krause one of the Top Ten most Influential CEOs. However, his jaw-dropping success stories do not stay within the confines of the convenience store industry. Krause is known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, which has driven him into many other business ventures.

Kyle J. Krause
Kyle J. Krause's strong business drive and proven leadership led him to the top of Kum & Go, L.C., a family-owned business founded more than 50 years ago. In 1997, Kyle was named President of Kum & Go. Then, in 2004, he became Owner and Chief Executive Officer. Under Kyle’s leadership, Kum & Go has grown from 309 stores to more than 400 stores in 11 states. Today, Kum & Go employs nearly 4,000 associates and is the fifth largest privately-held, company-operated convenience store chain in the United States. He also leads Kum & Go’s strong emphasis on environmental stewardship and sustainability.
A successful entrepreneur, Kyle purchased majority ownership of the Des Moines Menace in 1998 (a Premier Development League soccer team).
A dedicated community business leader, Kyle has served as Chairman on numerous boards such as the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, Des Moines Art Center, Junior Achievement of Central Iowa, Dowling Catholic High School Foundation, Iowa Motor Truck Association, Sacred Heart Church Finance Committee and Liberty Banshares among others. As a passionate Iowan, Kyle also has taken on the role of serving on many recognized boards, committees, and task forces.
Kyle is a University of Iowa graduate and received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance. In 2001, Kyle was the featured commencement speaker at the University of Iowa.
