Kum & Go Hires TJ Freeborn as Chief Marketing Officer

(Des Moines, IA) Kum & Go has recently hired TJ Freeborn as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) beginning January 7, 2019. An Iowa native, Freeborn brings with her over 20 years of marketing, brand and communications experience.

In the role of CMO, Freeborn will lead innovation, accelerate growth and drive customer engagement through her leadership of Kum & Go’s Business Insights & Analytics, Category Management, Food Service, Marketing Communications and Merchandising & Space Planning teams.

Freeborn is a multi-faceted professional with significant expertise in branding, marketing, customer experience and public relations. Notably, she has served in progressively advancing leadership roles for national category leaders, such as Wells Fargo and Discover, and most recently served as Senior Vice President of Branding and Customer Experience for loanDepot, the second largest nonbank lender and fifth largest retail lender in the country.

Known as a transformative leader, Freeborn has displayed an ability to nimbly ideate and develop omni-channel branding, marketing and campaign experiences, as well as speed customer acquisition, incubation and recapture, all while improving productivity, creating efficiencies and driving down cost. Throughout her career, Freeborn has gained wide respect for her ability to lead large-scale implementations of company-critical demand generation engines, origination systems and customer experience platforms, while overseeing corresponding reporting, risk and control functions. Additionally, she has served as the national media spokesperson and employee engagement champion for her employers.

A native of Indianola, IA, Freeborn received her B.A. in Mass Communication from Grand View University in Des Moines, where she was an all-conference athlete and member of the College’s invitation-only, interdisciplinary Logos Honors Program.
